Toddler Blog April 2019
Thank you so much for reading about our Toddler Group we love sharing our news!
Coffee Morning
On Saturday 23rd March we were responsible for running the Coffee Morning at All Saints Church in the Tom Hauley Room, 10 till 12 noon.
We were blessed with lots of raffle prizes, 50 items in all, so it took some time to complete the draw! We also had a great array of cakes and bric a brac. It started out as a quiet affair but then we were joined by some of our Toddler families with their children and grandchildren who are always wonderfully lively and enjoy the space and the attention, so there was a real buzz about the place and we do love hosting it. We made a staggering £244.42p all for Toddler Group. It will be used to buy art and craft materials, refreshments and contribute towards our summer trip. It costs us over £1,600 per year to run the Group each Monday and as the subs have remained the same for years we do rely on fundraising and donations to keep going. Thank you so much to all those who came, contributed and supported us, it is really appreciated.
Community Involvement
We are delighted to welcome Judi Piper as our new additional Volunteer, I think many of you will know her from Biblios, we are very pleased to have her valuable experience, great to have a new team member.
Alison Hunt, another well know person in Harbury, came to read a story and sing songs with the children recently, it is fabulous to have such a diverse range of helpers and supporters, here she is captivating her audience.
Here is a shout out, in the past Barbara has kindly collected large shells for us at least 10cm across, from Mark’s & Spencer’s I believe. We use them to plant mustard and cress which was so easy for little fingers, so if any one has any shells we would love to hear from you – we need about 20 for everyone to have a turn.
Other Activities
We held our AGM in February during drink and biscuit time, this gives everyone time to have a say. We are pleased to report that we offered 38 sessions during 2018, 73 individual children came to the Group. We had some star attenders including Monty, George, Ila, Lucy and Olivia. Selina, our Treasurer and Lynne as the Chair agreed to retain these offices for a further year and this was unanimously applauded. Thanks guys.
Our activity Calendar for 2019 is in full swing with thanks to Janice from Pu Tai Health & Wellbeing offering massage and other treatments to parents, Miss Laura from Love Ballet dancing the morning away which the children adore. Liz from The Cookery Kitchen will be joining us soon with lots of other visitors planned.
We’ve also made animal masks and sprinkled glitter on pine cones, decorated photo frames, made colourful printing, moulded our dough, made Valentine cards, Mother’s Day keys to your heart gifts, made clay pigs, bird feeders, played with trains, lego, cars, shops, and dinosaurs phew how busy are we!!!!
Come and join us – If you want to join us at the Toddler Group then Lynne, Selina, Suzi, Judi and Reg look forward to welcoming you come on round the kettle’s on. We are based at the Scout Hut, High Street, Harbury, CV33 9HW and meet at 9.30am saying bye bye at 11.15.Thinking of coming along or need more information please do ring Lynne on 01926 612748 or email lynnebarton@btinternet.com

Toddler Blog Feb & March 2019
Hi Everyone,
We were graced by the presence of a princess recently, a real Disney Princess, that is Elsa came to visit us and decorated our hands with sparkly tattoos that didn’t wash off for over a week. What fun!!
Chinese New Year Toddler Style
We never miss an opportunity to party and have fun so the Chinese festival celebrating the beginning of the traditional Chinese Calendar was perfect for us. We loved the feel of the noodles, made lanterns to take home and bounced the morning away on our Bouncy Castle. Learning new things is such fun especially when your sharing it with friends.
Happy Half Term
We decided we would open in half term to ‘test the take up’ and oh my goodness parents, grandparents and children supported the idea so a great success all round. Reg, Lynne and Simon just about managed thanks to a wonderful line up of support with our very own Emily on Clay Models, Clare on Singing, Dancing and Story, Deb on large Easel Art, kept going by free cakes at break time courtesy of Fiona. A real community affair. Thanks to all!!
Plea for donations
On Saturday 23rd March we will be hosting the Coffee Morning at All Saints Church in the Tom Hauley Room, 10 till 12 noon. This is something we all love to do but rely on donations of homemade cakes and raffle prizes so please help if you can. Why not join us and help raise much needed funds for Toddlers. We need to buy a toddler sized table which folds down so it can be stored in the shed, we would like some new toys and are always in need of art and craft, so all funds raised will be well spent and directly benefit the children. Many many thanks.

Toddler Blog January 2019
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for taking the trouble to read about our Toddler Group. It’s that time of year when we all get excited to receive our ‘new pack’ as a welcome to the group complete with its own Calendar detailing all the wonderful things we have to look forward to through 2019. A new year, a new beginning.
Our very first session coincided with a teacher training day so we were very fortunate to catch up again with all ‘our children’ who had moved to their next phase of education, grown up enough for big school but still enjoying making Penguins, Snowmen and a Sing and Sign with Julie Messer.
Suzi Millar has joined us as a new helper and has been made to feel very welcome by all the children and parents, we are delighted at how well she has settled in, here she is assisting with the Playdough.
Get Cooking with Anne Marie presented home made Christmas bread, scrummy, spiced and easy to make for little hands, take it home to prove a little before baking in the oven and enjoying as a treat for afternoon tea. Toddlers is a place where we come together to have fun, meet new friends, learn the importance of how to share and be part of a wider family, it is just fabulous to see Mums, Dads, Nanas, Grandmas, Grandads all chatting together and giving of that most precious commodity time, for each other and time for their children.
Our Annual AGM will be held during the session on Monday 25th February where all present can have a say on how the Group is going and share the financial report of our income and expenditure. As our good readers all know we are all spent out and need to secure some funds for this year so ………… another date for your diary is Saturday 23rd March when we will be hosting the Coffee Morning at All Saints Church in the Tom Hauley Room, 10 till 12 noon. This is something we all love to do but rely on donations of homemade cakes and raffle prizes so please help if you can.
As the year progresses our resident Holistic Therapist will be easing stressed shoulders, we will be dancing the session away with our lovely Miss Lorraine, we will be exploring Space – the final frontier, making secret dens and very hush hush a princess has been invited to the Group.

New Year Toddlers
Hallo from everyone at Harbury Toddlers!
What a year we have had, we are so grateful to all the families who make Toddlers so special without their love and support in 2018 we would have never made it through!
So what did we do in 2018:
- We ran 38 Toddler Sessions, the highest number of children recorded at one session was 33 with the lowest being 16. We have had 900 attendances.
- We moved location and are now at the Scout Hut where we have had a warm welcome
- We bought a new shed and kitted it out with shelves and toys, organised by Volunteers Reg and David
- We raised income through stalls at the carnival and were grateful for a cheque from the Carnival Committee as well as other sales, donations, coffee morning and sponsored Toddle.
- We were financially supported by Entrust Care Partnership (an organisation who works with disabled children) they spent £1,000 this year enhancing the activities, hosting specialist visitors and buying resources.
- We had a summer trip to Mary Arden’s House.
- We went through the ‘Magic Door’ into the Library and listed to Sue telling us a story, our own Alison Hunt visited and told us traditional tales and rhymes.
- We danced, we sang, we cooked, we created, we painted, we played, we saw a Zoo, we worked with clay, we had a Circus Party, we had a lovely Christmas Party and met the real Father Christmas, and mummies and daddies had some taster alternative therapies Wow Whee what fun!We have more exciting things planned for 2019 with our events Calendar due to be issued to all parents/carers shortly.
We will be joined by a new Volunteer, Suzi, who lives locally will be coming to help on a more regular basis and I know that we will give her a warm welcome.

December Toddlers
Hallo from everyone at Harbury Toddlers.
Our transition to the Scout Hut is now complete and we have settled in, pom poms, fairy lights and new mats brighten the room but overwhelmingly it is the families who attend who make it such a great place to be on a Monday morning #HappyMonday
We can’t quite believe how blessed we are with such a group of dedicated, committed, compassionate parents, grandparents and carers always offering to help, sharing ideas, bringing cakes, toast and biscuits to help with funds. You can see the theme here can’t you.
We acknowledge that we all have much to be thankful for so when we say Toddlers is a ‘bit skint’ at the moment it must be taken in context. We have applied to WH Smith for funding, have our planned Coffee Morning on rota for next March and intend to keep looking for external funding as we would like to purchase some non-fixed barriers to create a safe outside play area in the Spring.
So, what have we been up to? Well continuing the food theme we made Apple & Pear crumbles, the smell of the honey, cinnamon and fruit was delicious and we were so grateful to Liz for presenting the session, it was like a cookery class at the Shopping Mall!
Other recent visitors included Miss Laura from LoveBallet.com a firm favourite, our very own Alison Hunt who reads us stories and traditional songs and rhymes and Alan Toms a local Amateur photographer, thank you all for your ongoing support. As most of our Readers know Entrust Care Partnership, a not for profit organisation supporting disabled children and young people, run the Toddler Group and a special thanks this month goes to Mal Leeman (Grandmother to George) and the fantastic Chinewrde Morris Dancers for their generous cheque to help our work.
By the time you read this we will be busy with our Christmas Activities, making Christmas Puddings, preparing our Reindeer Food with edible glitter so that it is perfectly safe to scatter on the lawn, letters to Father Christmas, Christmas songs and the Nativity Story. We are looking forward to our Christmas Party at All Saints Tom Hauley Room with Reena’s Soft Play Take Away which always pleases everyone and a visit from shhh you know who.……..Merry Christmas everyone.
